In memory of Joni Linn Elmore (October 20, 1955 – January 15, 2026), big sister to Stanley James Elmore, my lifelong best friend (April 11, 1957 – May 12, 2013)
The John & Mildred Cooper Nature Preserve isn’t some pristine area. It’s more wilderness, as any nature preserve should be. Our first visit was a few years ago during the summer. A successful chigger attack stopped us from completing much of the hike. That’s why we figured we’d give it another go during the dead of winter.
Let’s take a walk through the top portion of this trail. Not to worry, we’ll revisit during the Spring. The Middle Fork Saline River is currently quite low, and the trees are bare.
Today’s conversation is going to be different because of loss. A loss I experienced this week. Thanks for joining me.
