Todd Noles, Superintendent of the Common Property/Forestry/Lakes/Dams for the Hot Springs Village Property Owners Association, shares an update on the current threat to our pine trees. Todd and his team are currently battling two dangers to our pine trees: beetles and pine needle blight (a fungus). The pictures below illustrate the damage resulting from these threats.
The wet weather followed by dry weather fosters the growth of the fungus which attacks the needles, weakens and ultimately kills the tree. Sadly, many of these infected trees need to be removed. Here’s an online article if you’d like to learn more.
