She asked me about my glasses. They’re heavily tinted reading glasses that block out blue light. They’re not cheapy throw-aways, but they’re not expensive either. It sparked a conversation about the everyday things we enjoy – things that make a positive difference in our lives. I started rattling off a few things – mostly things I saw within a 6-foot circumference of my studio space. By the time I got to number 22, I stopped and made this confession, “I know I could come up with twenty-two more if we kept talking about this.”
It’s about stuff, our stuff. But it’s about much more.
It’s about our expectations, happiness, and contentment. Mostly, it’s about gratitude, being thankful for all the little, inexpensive things that improve our quality of life.
