Today’s “porch talk” is about realizing it was time to declutter. The question became, “How high is the utility of this item for me?” It may be time to consider decluttering your life from unnecessary (or unused) possessions.
Some organizational experts urge us to declutter based on the joy a possession gives us. That didn’t work for me, so I pursued utility. High utility.

Simpatico! Fewer books collecting dust. Shelves less cluttered.
I found that some nursing homes are also happy to be given suitable used books.
My problem is disposing of collectible items that were inherited because I don’t know how to find someone who has knowledge of their value, or who might be interested in purchasing some of them. I don’t have confidence that estate sales people know the true value of everything.
I understand finding somebody you can trust to help you know the true value. Asking others – who you trust – for a recommendation might be one route.
