I received a message from a couple in New England interested in considering Hot Springs Village as their retirement destination. They hope this winter will be their last in New England. But the weather wasn’t their question. Instead, they wanted to know about house sizes in the Village and how they could prepare to downsize—not just their house but their stuff.
You don’t have to downsize in retirement, but most of us want to. You can get as big a house as you desire here inside Hot Springs Village. You can also go quite small if that’s your preference.
I get many messages asking similar questions from couples planning to retire. It’s funny. I used to never get asked such things. Goes to show you (and me) that I’m now officially old.
Today, let’s talk about downsizing as we prepare for retirement, even if you won’t fully retire (like us). Rhonda and I both still work. I’m as busy as ever, but I’m thankful. It’s what I want to do. Let me walk you through our process and some things we’ve learned as we migrated to Hot Springs Village, where we spend much of our time.
P.S. Here’s a picture of the storage solution we had built for our garage. It’s awesome! Well worth the investment of a few hundred bucks. The bins were less than $10 each at Sam’s Club.
